Goin’ Loco

Urmila Matondkar has a new love—her four-month-old pup Loco. Whenever Urmila is on an outdoor schedule she misses Loco real bad. And she says the dog feels the same way. Apparently, when Urmi is out of town, Loco sleeps on her slippers and won’t eat a thing. And when she’s home he follows her around everywhere. So much so that when the Bhoot actress needs a moment of privacy, she has to actually lock bechara Loco out.



Preity Close

Abhishek Bachchan is easily the most sought-after bachelor boy in tinselville.Rani Mukerji’s mother Krishna openly suggested to a common friend that Abhishek and Rani would make a ‘good’ couple. Then we heard Shilpa Shetty was growing fond of him. Next, Amisha Patel followed him from Morocco to Mumbai with her heart on her sleeve.

But if industry gossip is to be believed, the latest latest on this front is that Abhishek Bachchan is a ‘good’ friend of Preity Zinta’s.One hears the senior Bachchans, especially Jayaji, are very fond of Preity. And whenever Ms Zinta has some time off, she makes it a point to visit Jalsa, the Bachchan residence.



No Kiss for Kaif

When some media guys wanted Saif Ali Khan to give the luscious Katrina Kaif a peck for a photograph, he refused. He didn’t want to mess with Salman Khan’s lady, he said. In fact, we hear Saif was jittery just shooting with Katrina because even as they were posing for the camera, Katrina got a dozen phone calls. Saif, who figured out who was at the other end, got the heebie-jeebies and decided to keep his mouth shut for more reasons than one.



Boney's Angels

Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol and Celina Jaitley, all of who star in Boney Kapoor’s No Entry, had a blast when they were in Mauritius for a fortnight-long shooting schedule.

Bipasha, we’re told, was the catalyst in getting the other girls to resolve their differences and be friends. Evening after evening, the four leading ladies would step out of their hotel rooms and wine and dine together. This was their way of keeping the men at bay.

But they hadn’t reckoned with apna Sallu. One hears he tried getting familiar with Celina Jaitley. But had to back off when Ms Basu and Co gave him a piece of their minds.

Back in Mumbai, Celina was left all alone to ward off Mr Khan’s incessant phone calls. Tch, tch.



Dog gone!

Rani Mukerji was in a blue funk recently because her pet dog passed away. Rani cried non-stop for two whole days and the senior Mukerjis got seriously worried about how to console their darling beti.

Especially since Rani even cancelled a Yash Chopra schedule on the first day. A frazzled Aditya Chopra paid Rani a visit and convinced her to come to the shoot because there were too many permutations and combinations to take care of if she didn’t. The professional Rani finally agreed tearfully and the Chopras heaved one huge sigh of relief.



Khan Mania

Priyanka Chopra is quite smitten by Shah Rukh Khan. Of all the leading men she has met, she says, SRK is the most gentlemanly of ’em all. Reason: she can’t get over the way he treated her when she went for a show to Singapore with him some months ago. “He took a personal interest in making me and all the other performers comfortable,” she recalls. “He’d make sure we joined him for dinner every day. And forget pulling up a chair for me, he did that even for my mother. You don’t get to meet too many such people,” she gushes.

Another star on Priyanka’s Most Admired list is Rekha. “Both Rekha and Shah Rukh have risen from anonymity to superstardom without any godfathers backing them,” she remarks, “and their success stories inspire me to keep going.”



Night Rider

John Abraham is thrilled to bits with his latest acquisition—a top-of-the-line Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle on which he zips across the Western Express Highway. In fact, he’s even used this bike for some special shots in a Yashraj film in which he co-stars with Uday Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan.

John’s new love stays parked in a vacuum-packed bag in girlfriend Bipasha Basu’s compound amidst tight security. We hear it was Bips who gifted him the bike. John, in turn, has gifted his lady love a state-of-the-art treadmill that cost him a whopping amount. And Bips coos, “I have the best boyfriend in the whole wide world!”



Baap re baap"

Zayed Khan is turning out to be the next wild thing on the film block. He’s either drawing attention by dancing on the dining table, like he did at Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday bash last November or dancing on bar stools at nightclubs. On one recent outing, Zayed went one step ‘higher’ and got into a brawl with some other revelers who were having problems with the bouncers. Enter apna Zayed who decided to fight on behalf of his good friends.

Guess who Zayed was protecting? The bouncers at Enigma, who are his best buddies.

Zayed inherits his garam khoon from papa Sanjay Khan, who’s said to have acted tough with the owners of the Rain restaurant which shares a common wall with his bungalow. He reportedly told them that if they didn’t wind up proceedings by a decent hour, he would get the place shut down. Hope Sanjay Khan is joking. ’Cos if he carries out his threat and shuts down Rain, where will bechara Zayed party? Yeah, Zayed is a Rain regular!



A Summer Wedding

Namrata Shirodkar, Raveena Tandon-Thadani’s best friend, will follow in Rav’s footsteps and marry her actor-boyfriend Mahesh Babu this month. The venue for the wedding could well be New Zealand where Mahesh is shooting. The wedding may be followed by receptions for industry bigwigs in Hyderabad and Mumbai. Or it could be a quiet affair with a few select guests in Hyderabad itself followed by a lavish reception in the same city.

The plans were tentative when we went to press and Namrata is not discussing them with the press, or anyone for that matter.

Here’s wishing Namrata a life of pure wedded bliss.
