Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn for Kanchana Hindi remake?

Tinsel town is abuzz with rumours that B-town star Akshay Kumar has given his nod to act in the Hindi remake of Kanchana, the Tamil hit horror flick with Raghava Lawrence in the lead. Lawrence had directed the movie as well.
Though the reigning Khans Salman and Aamir had both shown interest in remaking Kanchana in Hindi, it was reported that finally Akki would play Lawrence’s role.
Sanjay Dutt was to play the title role of the transgender, made memorable by Sarath Kumar in the Tamil film, and Lawrence was to direct the Bollywood version as well.
Now, the buzz is that Sanjay has been replaced by Ajay Devgn and Anees Bazmee will direct instead of Lawrence. Reportedly, Bazmee had also arranged for a special screening of Kanchana for Akshay.
When we contacted producer Murali Ramanarayanan, he did agree to have met Bazmee for a discussion.
“Yes, appa and I met Anees who was keen to rope in Akshay. But there are a few issues that need to be sorted out and Lawrence has asked us to put it on hold for some time. Nothing has been finalised yet. Besides, my dad is also busy with the final stage of the Kannada remake of Kanchana.”
According to Murali, Kanchana has broken the records of Endhiran (18) and Singham (20) and registered a TRP of 22, when it was aired on television recently.
