Sonakshi Sinha: "Salman never complimented me"

Excerpt from the interview:

Competition doesn’t unnerve her. “I work with blinkers on. I just focus on my work. I wasn’t looking to be part of the industry. It happened by chance. In fact, Salman, whom I have known as a family friend would say, ‘You should act. Why are you studying fashion?’ I didn’t take him seriously because when I saw myself in the mirror I didn’t see an actor. I was overweight. But today I’m glad to be here,” she smiles.

She owes her shipshape form to Salman. “He was the one who kept telling me to lose Sonakshi Sinhaweight. If he saw me eating something I wasn’t supposed to on the set, he’d shout ‘Stop it! You still have to lose weight’. I didn’t mind it because it was for my own good.” And no, she was never intimidated by him. “I never looked upon him as Salman Khan. He was just Salman, the family friend.” She goes on about her co-star, “With Salman what you see is what you get. He doesn’t pretend to be someone he is not. He is extremely honest, something people may not be able to digest. But that’s what he’s loved for.” Did he compliment her? “He thinks things go easily to my head. So he was very stingy with compliments. But when we saw the final copy of the film he said, ‘You are a star’. That meant a lot to me. Someone who never complimented me suddenly gave me the biggest one,” she blushes.
