CHARACTERS
Salman Khan as Kunwar Singh is an ordinary police officer in a small town of Bihar. He finds nothing wrong in taking bribes like many of his colleagues. He does not care as long as it does not affect his life. He easily ignores the illegal activities in his area as long as enough money is being paid to him and is very close to the area MP. The only extraordinary thing about him is that he is fearless.
Sonakshi Sinha as Sakshi Mishra is a bright young student of History in Delhi University. She has gone all the way to Delhi to fulfill her dreams of becoming an IAS officer. She actively takes part in intellectual debates and firmly believes corruption should be routed out from Indian administrative system.
Arbaaz Khan as Amar Singh is a cousin of Kunwar Singh. He is happily married with an adorable daughter and an anti thesis to Kunwar. He is an ideal police officer who does his work with utmost sincerity.
Mahie Gill as Anita Singh is wife of Amar Singh. She is resilient and a pillar of strength for Amar. She is the homemaker who is busy bringing her daughter up and taking care of her old father-in-law.
Sonu Sood as Mithilesh Yadav is a student leader. He passed out of college long time ago but still largely dominates the student political scene as he heads the youth wing of a national party. He comes across as an idealist person but has secret ambition to come to power and will do anything to get that.
Anupam Kher as Dr. Jagannath Mishra is a professor in local college. He has known Kunwar since he was a college student. He dislikes Kunwar’s ways but knows that innocent self in him and is hopeful that someday he will realize his mistakes and come to right path. He is also the father of Sakshi Mishra.
Paresh Rawal as Sharad Kumar is an IPS officer who is the Superintendant of Police of the district. He is neither corrupt nor an idealist. He is a practical person who adapts to situation given to him. He believes it’s everyone’s responsibility to keep a society crime free not just police departments’. He is aware of the illegal activities in the area but helpless to act as people above the hierarchy are part of it.
Raghuvir Yadav as Chandrashekhar Singh is the ailing old father of Amar Singh. He was a clerk in the district administration and was known for his honesty and integrity. He strongly disapproves Kunwar’s ways especially because he didn’t carry the family values. Kunwar on his part dismisses his uncle’s idealism as a relic of the past, though he respects him a lot.
Vinod Khanna as Mohammed Nizam Shah is the MP and the most powerful person in the district. He belongs to one of the parties forming the coalition in the centre hence wields enormous power in the system. He is seen as messiah by a particular section of society as he does a lot of work for them and hence gets elected every time. Also he skillfully eliminates whoever poses a threat to his position. He controls everything that happens in the district. But some of his activities also flout the law of the land. But there is no proof or rather no one to stand against him. Kunwar happily remains in his good books.
SYNOPSIS
Sakshi is back to home as summer vacation is going on in her college. She dislikes Kunwar but tolerates him because her father is fond of him. Kunwar has a soft corner for her but is very well aware of her feelings towards him. While accompanying her father to his college during a function, she meets Mithilesh and gets impressed by his idealism and charisma and gets drawn towards him. Kunwar knows the real Mithilesh and comes in conflict with him more because of his protectiveness towards Sakshi. Although it doesn’t win him any brownie points rather goes against him as Sakshi dislikes anybody interfering in her life.
On larger canvass, Amar busts one of the illegal activities of Nizam Shah and comes in direct conflict with him. Nizam tries to diffuse the situation through Kunwar who tries to convince Amar not to go against such powerful man. But Amar remains adamant and consequently Nizam eliminates him. This event comes as a big jolt to Kunwar as he realizes his personal loss. Moreover he finds himself responsible for his cousin’s death, whose family now becomes vulnerable without him. He tries to become a support system to Amar’s family but they discard him. What follows is a grand war - An internal fight with the demons of his dark past to redeem his soul. An external fight against a powerful man and system to which he was once part of. The only weapon in this war is his fearlessness. Will it culminate in redemption or self-destruction? Can he win his loved ones back?
