First theatrical promo of Tezz is out while Agent Vinod too has released a smart poster that gives more than just a hint of what the film could well be. Even though the much hyped clash between these films has been averted, with Tezz moving ahead to allow Agent Vinod a solo release, comparisons are bound to be made.

Says a source, “Both films have been much more than just ‘inspired’ from their Hollywood counterparts. So while it is a known fact that Agent Vinod is based on the James Bond flicks, even Ajay’s character in Tezz is based on Jason Bourne of the Bourne trilogy.
Moreover those who have worked in Tezz vouch for the fact that it’s action has been conceptualised, designed and executed in a manner similar to that of James Bond franchise.
Says a senior actor attached to the film, “We aren’t allowed to say much as of now but Tezz is turning out brilliantly. Yes, it has taken some time to reach the finishing line but every additional week spent on the making or post production of the film has been worth it. The film indeed boasts of some heavy duty action and I am amazed with the way (producer) Ratan Jain has gone out of his way to get the best guys in the business for the film. In fact the man behind the action here is the same guy who has handled Bourne movies.”
Though the likes of Dabangg and Singham have stuck to the ‘desi’ roots, Agent Vinod as well as Tezz is expected to bring a new dimension to action.
“You don’t know how crazy and excited Priyadarshan has been for Tezz. He seldom dedicates one full year for a film but he has done that in case of Tezz. He is trying to explore various spectrums now. His Kaanjivaram got him so much critical acclaim; now he wants to prove that he can make a cool looking action film as well if he wants. He has that fire in his belly right now and he won’t rest till he has achieved what he is set out for. Tezz is his dream”, adds a source.
Since Priyadarshan has made a career out of making comedies while Sriram Raghavan has fetched good acclaim with gritty films like Johnny Gaddaar and Ek Haseena Thi, it would be interesting to see if their ‘desi’ Bourne and Bond indeed manage to push the envelope when it comes to matching the high standards set by Hollywood counterparts.

A clash between Ajay Devgn’s Tezz and Saif Ali Khan’s Agent Vinod may have been narrowly avoided, but comparisons between the two films continue unabated.

The latest talk around the two films have centred on the fact that both Saif and Ajay’s roles are drawn from well-known international spy characters. While Agent Vinod’s James Bond inspiration has been widely reported, lately, reports have also started trickling in that Ajay’s Tezz character draws its references from that of Jason Bourne (Bourne trilogy fame).
“Producer Ratan Jain has got the best guys in the business to handle the action sequences for Tezz,” says a source connected to the film. “Tezz’s stunts have been conceptualised by the man behind the Bourne trilogy.” The film, much like Agent Vinod, is supposed to bring in a whole new dimension to B’town action flicks.
“Priyadarshan is really excited about Tezz, which is reflected in the fact that he dedicated a year to its making. He’s been wanting to make a cool looking action film for a long time now and Tezz is his chance to prove it,” our source adds.
Should Saif worry? Perhaps not yet.

Things are heating up for ‘Agent Vinod’ and the very USP of the film is its look and feel which is clearly inspired by James Bond classics. Though it was being mentioned in a hush-hush tone that Saif Ali Khan’s character of Agent Vinod has been modelled on James Bond, the revelation has just come in that this indeed is the case, what with the Nawab of Pataudi turning all suave and sophisticated to get into the skin of the character.

Informs a top filmmaker who is close to both Saif and Kareena and is one of the few top celebrities in B-town to have had a dekko at portions of the film, “After seeing ‘Agent Vinod’, I can most comfortably declare that if at all there is someone in Bollywood who could have played this character, it is Saif Ali Khan. To carry off someone who is clearly on the lines of James Bond isn’t something that anyone can do. Guess it is the royal blood at play here. Saif is looking every bit the mature character who knows how to carry himself.”
Well, we hope these words indeed come true once the film releases on 23rd March. However before that we would also wish to have a dekko at the film’s First Look which is expected to arrive anytime now

Saif Ali Khan was injured while shooting for Agent Vinod.
According to reports, Saif hurt his right hand while shooting for the action thriller.

Says a source, “Saif was shooting a car chase sequence, where the car meets with a major accident. And while there was a body double doing the sequence, Saif was needed to shoot the initial part where he had to bang the car into a pole. Saif did it successfully, but while doing the scene the actor injured his right hand.”
We are told that while Saif’s right hand was badly bruised, the bleeding was quickly brought under control. Meanwhile, Saif is recuperating on a two-day break till he is given a clean chit by the doctors.

Buzz is that Sriram Raghavan’s obsession with details is further delaying Saif Ali Khan’s Agent Vinod.
Buzz is that the release date of Saif Ali Khan’s next, Agent Vinod will not be announced until director Sriram Raghavan is sure of meeting his deadline. Sources also say that a couple of day’s time of shoot is also pending.

Earlier, the film’s release was scheduled for December 9. Talking about the time taken to make the spy-thriller, our source says, “After completing a schedule, Sriram would edit the portions and revisit the script.
This would help him figure out if some scenes in the next schedules could be replaced by just a couple of intermediate shots. So the screenplay and shot division for the next schedules would undergo some change, for a better product, instead of salvaging it on the editing table.”
It is learnt that while the principle shooting and the songs have been shot and the film is in post-production stages, a couple of patch-work shots still remain. “Minor shots to connect two scenes better, are to be completed,” reveals our source.
Not to forget the special effects, for a better finishing of the action sequences. “There are a number of scenes that have been done with the help of cable and wirework. So those have to be eliminated from the frames,” says our source, adding that the movie has about 500 special effects shots. “And that’s obviously going to take some time.”
Also, the director is equally fastidious about the right sound mixing for his movies. “Even if Sriram has locked things up to a portion of the movie, the next day he’ll go through the previous work just to be double sure.
It’s never over till he’s satisfied with the final product,” sums up our source.
Meanwhile… The shoot of Saif’s Cocktail is running behind schedule, thanks to some unruly weather in South Africa.
The unit of Saif Ali Khan’s next home venture Cocktail, which is being shot in Cape Town, South Africa is currently facing nature’s fury. Bad weather condition is causing the delay in the shoot of the film and consequently making a heavy dent in the producer’s pocket.
A birdie from Cape Town reveals, “We are way behind the schedule due to bad weather conditions and excessive winds. Since most of our scenes are shot, we have no choice but to wait for the conditions to improve. The source adds, “One has little control over such unforeseen things. It was supposed to be a 15 day-schedule but we have been here for 20 days and still have not been able to finish the shooting. If it goes on like this I am afraid we may have to come back leaving the shoot midway. It’s quite expensive for the producers to park the entire crew in Cape Town for a week without work.”
The film directed by Homi Adjania stars Deepika Padukone and a new girl opposite Saif Ali Khan. The producers remained unavailable for comment

Film’s director continues to restructure his shoot schedule for Go Goa Gone to shoot with the new Nawab Of Pataudi

In the pursuit to meet the deadline of his ambitious project, Agent Vinod, which has already eaten into the time put aside for his other big projects, actor Saif Ali Khan is yet to confirm another set of dates for his home production, Go Goa Gone, that has completed its first schedule and should start its second schedule next week.
“Saif has his own commitments. Apart from Race 2, Agent Vinod and Cocktail are his own productions. So he’s trying to allocate dates for each film.
My film so far hasn’t been a problem. But it’s true that we’re working dates for the film keeping the other three in mind,“ confesses director DK Krishna, adding, “If he finishes a schedule of any of his other films and there is time on hand, we will try to finish his portions for the zombie film.“
Go Goa Gone is a zombie comedy that also features actors Kunal Kemmu and Vir Das. Reportedly the film suffered delays at the very onset following a freaky accident involving Kunal.
Also, Saif’s father, former cricketer Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s death hampered the schedules. “We have already shot a schedule in Mumbai. And now we are going to shoot a part in Goa. I agree we stopped filming for a while but it was largely because we wanted the monsoons to get over,“ argues Krishna.
The name of the leading lady of the film has been kept under wraps. It was earlier reported that Saif had wanted his sister, Soha Ali Khan to play the part. But so far there are no confirmations.
“We’ll announce the name soon,“ says Krishna. “The film doesn’t have a conventional love story. The character is an integral part of the zombie-comedy,“ adds Krishna, who plans to release the film by midnext year.

The first teaser of Saif Ali Khan’s mega spy thriller AGENT VINOD, as per the latest reports, will be out with Rohit Dhawan’s DESI BOYZ on November 25th. However, the film’s first trailer will be launched a month later when DON 2 releases i.e. 23rd December.

AGENT VINOD which was initially scheduled for release in 2011 has been postponed to 2012. Produced under Saif’s home production house Illuminati Films, the film stars the real-life couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, AGENT VINOD is likely to hit screens before IPL 2012 (April).

Saif Ali Khan’s much awaited home production Agent Vinod seems to have hit a roadblock. Rajasthan government has refused permission to resume the film’s shoot at the historic Kuldhara village near Jaisalmer.
In fact, the city police have booked three crewmembers of the film co-produced by Saif’s Illuminati Films and Eros International.

The arrest of three crewmembers was followed by an apology from Saif, the lead actor and co-producer of the film. “Saif Ali Khan approached me and apologised for the act of his production staff that defaced the ancient site by painting its old heritage walls and applying cow dung to make it look older still for shooting the climax of the film at Kuldhara.
I had told him that the film unit will have to face the penal action and will also have to pay a fine under Rajasthan Monuments, Archaeological Sites and Antiquities Act-1961 and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act,” informed Rajasthan tourism, art, culture and archaeology minister Bina Kak.
When contacted, Saif Ali Khan said, “There has been a misunderstanding. We set up an expensive set and we thought we had all the permissions. Our line producer said so. We aren’t stupid to deliberately destroy heritage property.”
According to Kak, the production company had never obtained permission to shoot in the first place. Moreover, they defaced the ancient site and raised structures to suit their shooting requirements without a permission to do so. Kak said that the state government would permit Saif’s production house to shoot the film in any other location than Kuldhara, provided a fresh plea is made to that effect.
Explaining the situation, Saif added, “The line producer told us that all that we did was allowed. We had been creating the set for ten days and no one told us anything. It is a huge set and I wish someone had said something earlier and not come at the last minute. In this entire bargain, we have lost a lot of money and time.
The whole idea is to stay within the law and not do anything wrong. Binaji has been of great help. She wants things to happen properly and she has helped us in getting other locations in Rajasthan.”
Saif is however, not interested in shooting at the same location any longer. “We will shoot at an alternate location. People in the cultural ministry have been very helpful.”
“The permission to shoot would be granted under the prevailing rules and regulations. The State government would depute its nodal officer to monitor the shoot so that the historic structures are not tampered with in the process,” said Kak.
While Saif has been assured help by Kak, should he pursue shooting in the area, crewmembers Rajnish Roy, Chandraprakash and local manager Tan Singh Bhati have been booked by the Khuri police station. “No arrests have been made yet. We have seized the camera, lights and other power equipment of the production company.
We will release all seized material after the investigation is complete. The court has to give their permission to the police as well,” said the district Collector MP Swami.
The filmmakers were preparing to shoot the climax of this Sriram Raghavan directed venture at the historic site of Kuldhara in the outskirts of Jaisalmer on Wednesday. The director wanted to present Kuldhara as a Pakistani village.
The art director, in an attempt to cover the original yellow stone of the facade, used maroon oil colour and had also filled mud between the stone layers. This not only defaced the structure but also caused permanent damage to the heritage property.
“We have the highest respect for the cultural heritage of our country and we even clean up beaches when we shoot there. Sometimes we do get blamed for what other units have done in the past and I guess that is the part and parcel of working in India. Sometimes things go wrong but knowingly we won’t damage anything,” said Saif.

The Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan, reached the Jodhpur airport, on Tuesday afternoon, for the shooting of ‘Agent Vinod’, his latest flick. The actor was accompanied by actor, Shahbaz Khan, and the action director of the film, Peter Hans, at the city airport. The actor was greeted at the airport by a large group of his supporters, waiting to catch a glimpse of the actor.

The actor was surrounded by his fans as he made his way out of the airport. The actor was sporting a casual blue coloured tee that was paired with an easy-going lower at the city airport. The cast and crew of the film ‘Agent Vinod’ arrived to shoot certain sequences of the film in the city. The fans and admirers of the Bollywood hottie, Kareena Kapoor, were disappointed as the actress failed to arrive with the cast on Tuesday. The actor was escorted by the security personnel to his vehicle so as to make an exit from the airport.
On one hand, where Saif Ali Khan kept to himself at the airport, actor, Shahbaz Khan, looked sporting as he signed numerous T-shirts for the youth gathered at the city airport.

It’s official-Saif Ali Khan’s mega spy thriller AGENT VINOD would now release in the first half of 2012. Though no confirmation has yet come around the eventual release date, it would certainly not be 9th December this year. This also leaves the doors open for Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma who would now arrive sans any competition whatsoever on the same day.

“Ranveer’s LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL was always planned for release on 9th December. However a few months back when Saif Ali Khan decided to arrive on the same date, there was a sense of uncertainty amongst all involved,” says a source, “Clash of two movies is anyways never a happy situation, especially when it involves notable names. Obviously many felt that it was unfair since this romcom which has Anushka Sharma as one of the ladies was the first to form a queue, AGENT VINOD came later.”
Though makers of AGENT VINOD were unavailable for comment, an insider said, “The month of December is anyways crowded with THE DIRTY PICTURE, LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL and DON 2. Moreover with MISSION IMPOSSIBLE:GHOST PROTOCOL also arriving in the same month, it didn’t make sense for AGENT VINOD, which belongs to a similar spy thriller genre, to add on to the mayhem. It was amicably decided by all to move ahead and come at the time when the film had a better window available for marketing, promotion and release.”
While for Kareena Kapoor this would mean yet another postponement of a film of hers (after EK MAIN AUR EKK TU) hence resulting in hectic times ahead for her (since she would also be shooting for HEROINE in the first half of 2012), the man who would be thanking his stars most is Ranveer Singh who can now aim at consolidating his position in the industry by benefiting most from the clean release period.

Saif Ali Khan’s production house wanted to release their mammoth venture Agent Vinod on April 5 (a four-day weekend) But before they could lock it, Sajid Nadiadwala announced that his next, Housefull 2, would release on April 5. Housefull 2 had earlier been scheduled for a June 1 release.

If sources are to be believed, Agent Vinod will not be released on Februrary 24. That means postponing the release of Saif Ali Khan’s Cocktail, which was initially to be released on February 24.
